That's fine, I enjoy both Taris and Peragus a lot more than most. Taris is also lengthy but there's a lot of stuff you can do - Peragus is just one foot in front of the other until it's over. Here's an example of how pacing can get really screwed up - Peragus is a lengthy prologue without the benefit of interesting and optional side quests like Taris. Even with TSLRCM, it still just isn't as polished as KOTOR 1 imo. The cut content of KOTOR 2 was made up vast portions of crucial plot and context that when cut, left quests unfinished without any resolution. Most of its cut content is simply content cut out like in any production - deleted scenes, scrapped ideas that didn't fit into the story as it evolved, etc. KOTOR 1 is a complete experience without mods. Someone else tried their hand at what that world could have been like but how close was it really to what Obsidian wanted to do? Who knows! There's a reason the Droid Planet isn't in TSLRCM and that's because there wasn't enough salvageable information on it. Imagine finding out about everything else they wanted to do because TSLRCM was made only out of stuff that actually survived in the files and code. I really wish Obsidian would sit down and write up what their original ideas had been, in depth, when it came to KOTOR 2. KOTOR 2 is a fantastic game with an amazing plot and your issues with its pacing almost assuredly come down to the fact that the release was rushed. I guarantee even with TSLRCM, its a shadow of what Obsidian intended to make had they gotten more time. At some point it needs to be executed just as well and unfortunately, LucasArts rushed the game and didn't allow Obsidian to realize that true potential. A great and unique idea only goes so far. In it's original release state, KOTOR 2 does not beat KOTOR 1. I remember seeing Team Gizka work on TSLRP (Restoration Project) only to see it die and then eventually RCM stepped up to fill the void. That's 8 years after the original release. TSLRCM only 'officially' released in 2012 if I'm not mistaken.

The Jedi Knight series is fine but for instance, the cast of protagonists is comparatively smaller, Dark Forces has no Jedi stuff, Jedi Knight leans closer but once again feels less like one of the original films and more it's own thing that simply retains some similar themes. KOTOR 1 feels the most like a classic Star Wars story put into game form. Which you prefer is obviously completely subjective and each has its benefits - the classic story is great because it allows you to basically immerse yourself in the same kind of story as the original films that started everything. KOTOR 2 is more unique with its story while KOTOR 1 is much more standard Star Wars.
